Peaceful Change initiative hereby presents research undertaken by New Social Initiative (NSI) and Community Building Mitrovica (CBM) into perceptions of the local community about the crisis in north Kosovo. The results – which revealed entrenched ethnic divisions and contrasting perceptions regarding political developments in northern Kosovo – provide important insight for policy-makers, civil society, and the international community and possible next steps.
Of note, the survey reveals varying intentions regarding relocation from Kosovo across different ethnic groups, with a notable proportion expressing plans to move out. Regarding past migration experiences, a considerable portion of respondents reported that both family members and friends had relocated from Kosovo within the past year.

The research was commissioned under the auspices of the Kosovo-Serbia Rapid Response Mechanism (KSRRM), comprised of civil society organisations from Kosovo and Serbia, with the intention of providing a platform for joint advocacy on economic matters vis-à-vis domestic political actors, civil society, the business sector, the international community, and other relevant interlocutors.
